The regeneration of Porth Teigr scooped the prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute Cymru (RTPI Cymru) Planning Award at the award ceremony in Cardiff.  igloo's regeneration of Porth Teigr demonstrated, according to Jon Fox the Chair of the eminent judging panel: "a commitment to excellence at all stages and forms a model for future similar developments across Wales."

Jon Fox added: "The role of igloo in maintaining a consistently high standard of stakeholder engagement, masterplanning, architectural quality, urban design and sustainability marked it out as the winner. Everyone looks forward to watching how the site continues to develop."

Mark Hallett, Development Director at Igloo, says: "Igloo is committed to FootprintR, our policy of sustainable investment designed to deliver benefits to our four key stakeholder groups (institutional investors; local community; creative industries; regeneration agencies) by generating economic, environmental, social and financial value in edge of city-centre locations. I am delighted that igloo's commitment to sustainable investment has been recognised by our industry peers. The award has made all the efforts of the key stakeholders in the project team worthwhile. "

Paul Vining, Regional Director of WYG Planning & Design said: "It has been a privilege to work with igloo, the Welsh Government and other stakeholders on this exciting project. It is rare to find a client that places so much emphasis on high quality design and sustainable development and I am delighted that this is now reflected in the RTPI Wales Planning Award."

The panel of judges comprised Jon Fox (Chair), Mike Cuddy and Chris Fray - members of the RTPI Cymru Management Board and Policy and Research Forum.

The scheme, which was submitted by WYG Planning & Design who are the planning advisers to igloo, is also shortlisted for the RTPI Planning Awards which has entries from Wales, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
